What this person would bring

  • Prior experience as a Board Chair, President, Vice-President, or equivalent

  • Strong facilitation and meeting leadership skills

  • Clear understanding of governance versus operations

  • Ability to partner constructively with the Executive Director

  • Capacity to guide the Board toward a strategic, long-term focus

 What this role is not

  • Not an operational leadership role

  • Not responsible for managing programs

 Chair Transition and Succession Approach

  • Appointment to the Board under this profile is not an immediate appointment to the Chair role. The Board anticipates a 6–9 month transition period during which the individual would serve as a Director, with opportunities to observe Board culture, governance practices, and organizational context, while the Board assesses fit, leadership style, and working relationships.

  • At the conclusion of this transition period, and subject to mutual interest, the Board would formally consider and vote on the individual’s appointment to the Chair role in accordance with Board bylaws and governance practices. This approach supports thoughtful succession, continuity of leadership, and a strong foundation for effective Board stewardship.
