Supportive Housing at Anawim

A home, a community, and a place to rebuild.

Anawim provides affordable, substance-free supportive housing for men and women who are ready to work toward greater stability, independence, recovery, and a more hopeful future.

Through Anawim House for men and Susan’s Place for women, our live-in programs provide much more than a safe place to stay. They offer structure, community, individualized support, and a genuine sense of belonging for people working to rebuild their lives.

Length of stay is generally 12–18 months, although every resident’s journey is different. During their time at Anawim, residents are supported in identifying their individual goals, developing practical skills, strengthening relationships, maintaining sobriety, and preparing for independent or permanent housing.

A Home, Not an Institution

Anawim is intentionally different from many supportive housing programs. These are homes, and we live in community. .

Residents live together, prepare and share meals, participate in house meetings and groups, and share responsibility for caring for the beautiful homes in which they live. Community participation, personal responsibility, and accountability are fundamental parts of the Anawim model.

For this reason, our programs are best suited to people who are ready and able to participate actively in communal living and engage meaningfully with the supports available to them.

Individualized Support

There is no single path forward. Every resident arrives at Anawim with different experiences, strengths, challenges, and aspirations.

Each resident works closely with a caseworker to develop and pursue individualized goals.

Residents also have access to on-site clinical counselling, regular groups and therapeutic programming, recreational and community activities, and opportunities to develop healthy relationships and a strong sense of belonging.

A Substance-Free Community

Both Anawim House and Susan’s Place are completely drug- and alcohol-free.

Residents must be committed to living without drugs or alcohol and maintaining their sobriety while participating in the program. This commitment is central to Anawim and allows us to provide safe, stable, and recovery-focused homes for everyone who lives here.

At Anawim, we believe lasting change happens through more than housing alone. It happens through community, dignity, belonging, accountability, and the opportunity to discover what comes next.
