Position Overview
Kitchen Support Volunteers play an important role in creating a welcoming, respectful, and nourishing environment at Anawim House. Working alongside staff and program participants, volunteers assist with the preparation and service of breakfast and lunch for community members, while helping maintain a clean and supportive kitchen space.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working as part of a team, is comfortable in a community‑based setting, and values relationship‑building through shared meals.
Key Responsibilities
Support staff and program participants with preparing and serving breakfast and lunch
Assist with light food preparation (chopping, plating, basic cooking tasks as directed)
Help with dishwashing, cleaning, and general kitchen upkeep
Chat with and welcome guests, helping create a friendly and inclusive atmosphere
Follow food safety and kitchen hygiene practices
Work respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds and lived experiences
Skills & Qualities
Friendly, patient, and respectful interpersonal skills
Ability to work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and program participants
Comfortable in a busy, community kitchen environment
Reliable and able to commit to a regular volunteer shift
Ability to follow direction and communicate clearly

Physically able to stand for periods of time and perform light kitchen duties
