Volunteer Greeter - Anawim House

Time Commitment:

  • 9:15 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

  • Commitment to a consistent schedule, ideally once per week

Position Overview

Greeters are often the first point of contact for guests arriving at Anawim House. This role helps create a welcoming, respectful, and calm environment by supporting guest flow, providing basic assistance, and fostering connection and community.

Volunteers work alongside staff to support day‑to‑day operations at the front of the house, including greetings, sign‑ins, coordination of services and general hospitality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome and greet guests warmly and respectfully

  • Support guest sign‑in/registration for breakfast, lunch, showers, and laundry 

  • Chat with guests and help foster a friendly, inclusive atmosphere

  • Help keep front‑of‑house areas tidy, including coffee station, tables, and shared spaces.

  • Friendly, calm, and welcoming presence

  • Strong communication and listening skills

  • Ability to work respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds and lived experiences

  • Comfortable providing light structure and support in a community setting

  • Reliable and able to maintain a consistent volunteer commitment

Requirements

  • Kindness, respect, and a genuine willingness to help

  • Completion of a Criminal Record Check

  • Physically able to stand for periods of time and perform light support and cleaning duties
