A Year In – A Personal Note from Jeff

You may or may not know me yet, my name is Jeffrey Baergen, and I have the privilege of serving as Executive Director here at The Anawim Companions Society.

Over the past year, I’ve had the honour of joining an extraordinary team, dedicated staff, passionate board members, and selfless volunteers, who together make Anawim the safe, supportive community it is.

Whether you’ve been with us for years or are just reconnecting, thank you. Your support means the world to all of us

There are so many moments from this past year I could share, but one stands out.

Not long ago, a woman at Susan’s Place told us she’d just spent Mother’s Day with her children—for the first time in nine years! That moment, quiet and full of meaning, is what this work is really about. It’s about healing. Reconnection. And the chance to start again.

Over the last year, we’ve been focused on strengthening the foundation that makes stories like hers possible. We’ve refreshed our homes, rewritten key policies, upgraded our case management systems, and invested in staff development. We’re not just offering shelter—we’re building a place where transformation can begin.

And we’re excited to share something new with you.

Our brand-new website has just launched. It’s clear, inviting, and a beautiful reflection of who we are and what we do. If you haven’t had a chance to see it yet, I hope you’ll take a look.

Looking forward, we remain committed to deepening our impact, building long-term sustainability, and making sure every person who walks through our doors feels seen, valued, and supported.

Thank you for walking alongside us. Your generosity and belief in this work truly make all the difference.

With gratitude,

Jeffrey Baergen
Executive Director

P.S. If you haven’t yet had a chance to stop by, I’d love to personally show you around. My door’s always open.
